The University of Bolton is a dedicated and invested advocate for Environmental Sustainability and our biggest investment is in our students. We asked Nick Wright (Bolton Award Project Manager) to put out a call for action to all Bolton Award students to truly hear their thoughts and opinions about Environmental Sustainability. The students were full of ideas and actively sought guidance about how they could get involved with projects. One student requested to be part of a community garden project that is on the horizon requesting specific ‘talking’ benches where students could either sit down and talk to others or simply have some time to reflect and support their own well-being.  The next task in this project is to co-opt students to design, create and produce a community garden where staff and students can enjoy time together or with a good book.

So, this is my call to action to all staff, if you would like to get involved in the community garden project or you know some students who will be willing to volunteer to turn the vision into a reality please send me an email and we can create the ES Community Garden Task and Finish group. If you can’t afford the time but have ideas for the community garden or Environmental Sustainability, feel free to email me Reena Bhogal-Welsh.
