This year the University of Bolton is taking part in the DofE Diamond Challenge and we want you to get involved!

After the success of the Relay Marathon in which over 200 staff, students, alumni and local business people as well as the local authority including the Mayor took part, we have another exciting event – The Big Sing.

Taking place on Wednesday December 14 at 12.30pm, we welcome everyone to join the University of Bolton family as we get into the Christmas spirit by singing seasonal songs, eating mince pies and raising money for charity.

Beginning at 12.30pm will be the annual Christmas Carol Service hosted by Dr Gill Smart, one of our chaplains, in the Social Learning Zone.

Following that at 1pm there will be further opportunities to enjoy, and even join in, singing from Mezzo-Soprano Antonia Sotgiu. She will lead the rendition of well-known Christmas tunes, as well as performances from staff and students, from 1pm until 2pm.

Everyone is encouraged to attend this fantastic event in support of the Duke of Edinburgh Diamond Challenge Award, whether you wish to sing or not.

We are now calling on any student or staff member who would like to perform a solo, duet or as part of a group for the Big Sing.

Honorary Doctorate recipient and professional singer Antonia Sotgiu is also willing to offer tuition to any student or staff member in order to fine tune those high notes.

If you are interested in taking part please visit Positions will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with the final deadline of Monday 12 December.

We’ll have collection buckets on hand at both events as we raise funds to give thousands more young people near you the opportunity to benefit from the experiences offered by the DofE.

If you are not able to attend you can also log in and donate at our justgiving page:
