If you have young people in the family interested in the theatre – this could be for them. The Octagon Academy is open to anyone aged 11 – 16 who wants to try something new.

The Octagon is looking for approximately 25 young people age 11-16, to help create a brand new piece of theatre for Bolton.

The Octagon team says you don’t need any experience as professional writers, directors, technicians and other staff will teach you everything you need to know and you’ll be working alongside other young people to develop your ideas and make them a reality.

Octagon1‘I’ve changed a lot since doing Generate. My confidence. My learning. My writing. Everything. I’ve made new friends… I never thought someone like me could write. I’ve learnt lots…I never thought I could write a play, I have written three now.’

Amy, Young Participant

Octagon2‘I am more confident with making friends and talking out loud…I couldn’t do this when I first started but as I made friends and got to know people I became confident in everything.’

Peter, Young Participant

Sounds interesting?

There are two ways you can get involved…

GENERATE – who will be in charge of creating the story and script

THE COMPANY: who will work on the production – acting, lighting, sound, directing, stage management, front of house and marketing.

You’ll receive all the training you need, and will also get an Arts Award qualification.
