The Government have announced further details of the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) and how this will affect universities. Under the scheme universities will be rated as ‘Does Not Meet Expectations’, ‘Meets Expectations’, ‘Excellent’ or ‘Outstanding’. This scheme becomes effective in 2016-17. The plan is that in future years individual departments will be assessed. Universities with good ratings will increase their league table position and can raise their fees. Poor ratings would require universities, and eventually departments, to reduce their fees.

This briefing event will cover:

  • National timeline for implementation in 2016-17 and how it will affect the University of Bolton
  • What we are already doing to succeed in the TEF and how Schools and Services will be involved.
  • Preparing for the Departmental assessments further down the line.

It is hoped that all Schools and teaching support services will be represented at this important briefing.
