The movie artist who helped to create iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader thrilled students when he visited the University of Bolton recently.
Legendary film artist, sculptor and model maker Brian Muir gave a special presentation to students on the Special Effects Model Making for Film and Television degree before the Covid-19 lockdown.
Brian is most recognised for his sculptural realisation of the designs for Darth Vader, gold android C3PO, Stormtroopers and a host of other characters from the Star Wars universe.
With almost 50 years in the industry, Brian has worked on over 70 productions, many of which are recognised as the most successful film franchises, James Bond, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter and the Marvel Comics Universe.
Jim Costello, Programme Leader for Model Making, said the students had been “enthralled” by the presentation.
Some were even lucky enough to try on a Stormtrooper helmet that Brian brought along with him.
He said: “Not only was it thrilling for all of us to meet such a leading figure from the film effects industry, but the care and encouragement that Brian and his wife Lindsey gave to the students during their visit was very special.”
