The LEAP Online team are delighted to announce that we have won a prestigious national award: The LILAC Digital Award for Information Literacy 2018. This is awarded by CILIP’s Information Literacy Group and rewards an innovative and high impact digital resource developed by a UK-based individual or group. The award is sponsored by the Open University and we were awarded £500 for our chosen charity which was the Bolton branch of Emmaus, which supports the homeless.

The judges were Katharine Reedy (Learning & Teaching Development Manager, Open University) and Josie Fraser (Social and Educational Technologist). Katharine Reedy gave this explanation for the award: “this is well thought-through and the front end is visually appealing. It has a strong underpinning framework that enables students to develop their skills in a scaffolded way, with clear links to the curriculum and to employability. There is evidence of positive student engagement with the resource through badges gained and survey feedback.”

We’re so pleased to have won, but recognise that we have had lots of help and support along the way from colleagues across the University.  We are therefore having a celebratory event on 25th April, 12-2pm in the Student Hub. We’d love to see you there for some food and drink! No need to book, please just come along on the day.  All are welcome.
