PhD student Maeve Geary appeared in the Daily Express with her story on leading a double life as a bouncer and student. Maeve studied Special Effects at the University and will soon travel to America to complete her PhD course at Boston Children’s Hospital.

Professor of Theatre, David Thacker, triumphed in this year’s prestigious Manchester Theatre Awards, receiving a haul of accolades. The Octagon swept the board at the annual ceremony with six awards, all for productions directed by Professor Thacker.

The inaugural E3 Business Expo took place at Macron Stadium with a wide range of North West businesses exhibiting. The event also attracted a delegation of Chinese business representatives from the Guangdong province of China, part of an international mission organised by the University of Bolton, Bolton Council and senior public figures from Sihui City.

The University’s new Pro Vice Chancellor, Baroness Warsi, joined in with celebrations for Diversity Day on Wednesday. Baroness Warsi talked on the importance of equality and diversity as students and staff celebrated the event in the SLZ.

Students at the University are pioneering a new way of delivering justice by settling local disputes and resolving minor crimes. Those enrolled on psychology degrees are volunteering on a Neighbourhood Justice Panel (NJP), which work with local communities to address problem behaviour and low-level offending.
