The University of Bolton’s world-renowned Professor of Theatre, David Thacker, is to stage Samuel Beckett’s Happy Days at Bolton town centre’s Library Theatre in Le Mans Crescent from 19 March to 4 April.
David, who leads the BA (Hons) Theatre and Performance Degree, will direct one of the UK’s leading actresses, Octagon regular, Margot Leicester, in an extremely challenging role.
The production will be staged by a professional quality theatre ‘company’ assembled by David, which will also give students the unique opportunity to be involved in creating a play from start to finish.
Five students have been given the opportunity to have placements on the production, as Assistant Director, Assistant Producer, Marketing Assistant, Education Assistant and Administration Assistant.
Another two students will support the technical team, and seven others will observe rehearsals, attend planning and production meetings and create their own production inspired by the themes of Happy Days – learning from their experience.
