Our Manchester Science Festival events kick off on Monday with a week packed with events for half-term holidaying youngsters.
Every year these are hugely popular with events in our fire labs and in Bolton One’s clinical simulation suite capturing the imagination of young minds.
Almost all events are full now, but organiser Dr Gill Smart says there are still a few places left for next Friday’s afternoon event. Full booking details for events are here
David Thacker’s Professorial inaugural lecture on Arthur Miller’s Broken Glass
David Thacker directed the British premiere of Broken Glass (and the world premiere of the final authorised text of the play) at The National Theatre in 1994. During this time he worked closely with Arthur Miller on the script and has a unique insight into the play’s development. He went on to direct the acclaimed film version for BBC and WGBH Boston, collaborating with Arthur Miller and the playwright David Holman on the screenplay. He then directed a radio version of the play for the BBC World Service and a production in Hebrew at the Cameri Theatre Tel Aviv. David will discuss the challenges he faced in directing these productions.
Professor Thacker’s inaugural lecture takes centre stage in the two day festival of Arthur Miller centenary celebrations. Full details of events over the two days are on our events webpages.
