A University of Bolton Course Leader has won two prestigious global awards for his documentary Battleground PolyU film he made during the Hong Kong protests.

Dave Clark, who leads the University’s MA in Visual Media in Hangzhou, China, won ‘Interactive of the Year’ and ‘Outstanding Immersive Experience’ in the World Press Photo Awards in the ‘Digital Storytelling Interactive’ category.

The camera Dave used for the documentary was able to film in every direction to produce a 360-degree video, enhancing the impact of the footage.

Dave said: “It allows you to experience what it was like to be there. I hope this will make it an important historical record of the event. I am ‘over the moon’ to be have won World Press Photo Awards categories.”

In 2006 Dave went to China to set up a new MA degree in Documentary/Photojournalism/Travel Photography, before moving to Beijing to teach Multimedia Journalism.
