The University has teamed up with the Mayor of Bolton to find Bolton’s Unsung Heroes and honour them at a special awards ceremony.

We want to recognise the brilliant people across Bolton who go out of their way and lend an extra helping hand for others with no thought for personal reward.

To find these Unsung Heroes we want to hear from you. Is there someone you know who has gone above and beyond? Are you part of a local organisation, charity, voluntary group or community centre and believe someone should be recognised for their hard work and efforts? Nominate your unsung heroes today!

The Unsung Heroes Awards are in six categories covering education, environment, sport, health, community and young people under 25. A panel of judges will select three finalists in each category and six winners will be invited, along with their supporters, to the Unsung Heroes Awards at Bolton Town Hall on 25 March 2020.

Professor George E Holmes DL, President and Vice Chancellor of the University of Bolton which is sponsoring the event, said: “As an institution we are at the heart of the local community and I am therefore delighted to offer the University’s support to these important awards in their inaugural year. These awards are a collaboration between the Mayor of Bolton and the University of Bolton and we are excited to hear the amazing stories from those in our community, without whose support a huge number of organisations simply would not be able to function.”

Mayor of Bolton, Cllr Hilary Fairclough said: “We want to find the lollipop ladies who go the extra mile, the people who operate a regular service for the elderly and isolated, and the youngsters who go out of their way to care for others.”

Nominate your Unsung Heroes today by completing a nomination form online at https://boltonunsungheroes.org.uk or obtain a form by contacting the Mayor’s Office on 01204 331090, or by emailing ku.vo1573579026g.not1573579026lob@e1573579026ciffo1573579026sroya1573579026m1573579026.
