Dear colleagues

Improving academic tutoring provision is a key priority in terms of student retention, progression and success. The Student Experience Team is conducting a review and evaluation of tutoring (both academic and enhanced academic tutoring) this academic year and we are piloting new training modules and resources to support tutors to carry out their role and responsibilities effectively. In order to do this, we’ve put together a questionnaire to determine the current state of play across the organisation and to ascertain additional support that can be put in place.

The aim of the study is to inform research on academic tutoring and its impact on student success. Your contribution, if you decide to participate, will help to improve academic tutoring in a number of ways, including the development of training and development and other resources for academic staff.

The findings of the project will therefore contribute to knowledge and understanding of some of the key issues faced by academics when supporting students, particularly during their first year of study.

The link to the questionnaire is here:

Responses are anonymous, I would be very grateful if you could find some time to participate.

With best wishes,
Dr. Emily McIntosh
Director of Student Life
