Sharon Halladay, a recent graduate from the University of Bolton was contacted by top design company Alexander McQueen, after her work was exhibited at ‘New Designers’ in London as part of the BA Textiles and Surface Design graduate showcase.

After a successful meeting with the company, Sharon was invited to Paris and Florence to work freelance on a project involving hand painting on leather.

Upon arriving in Florence Sharon, undertook a “workshop” with one of their hand painters and was then contracted to paint on McQueen’s products and garments (handbags, shoes, corsets etc) for four days. Sharon then travelled to Paris where she continued painting.

Sharon also had the opportunity to exhibit her work on the Launch Pad at MoOD Brussels, a notable boutique tradeshow hosting the largest collection of specialist upholstery fabrics, window textiles and wall coverings. The exhibition offers a platform where new start-up businesses and designers can be found – this is where Sharon’s work was exhibited.

She said:

“As a graduate this is an amazing opportunity as I probably could not afford to pay the £3,000+ that it would normally cost to exhibit solo at MoOD”

We are immensely proud of Sharon and wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
