Struggling to write your research paper, grant proposal, PhD or similar because of distractions?
Need to spend time reading and reflecting but are struggling to protect the ‘time out’?
If so then an ‘academic writing retreat’ could be right for you.
The University of Bolton’s Academic Writing Retreats imitate a successful model employed by The University of Sheffield and are an adaptation of Professor Rowena Murray’s model.
The door opens 30 minutes before each retreat begins so that candidates can arrive, meet each other and settle down at a PC. Phones are then turned off, the door is closed and a “do not disturb” sign placed outside. Each participant then works in silence until the end of the retreat. Sitting together, we use peer pressure to ensure that no one is distracted by tea making, social media, e-mail, chatting, daydreaming etc.
The retreat provides a protected environment for academic writing – that is all. Come prepared with all you need to progress with your work. The following retreats have been scheduled for this semester:
|Wednesday 29th November 2017 (Morning)||9.00 – 9.25||9.30||12.00||Juniper|
|Wednesday 13th December 2017 (Morning)||9.00 – 9.25||9.30||12.00||Juniper|
