This World Mental Health Day (Tuesday 10th October), the University of Bolton are hosting an event focussed on community health and wellbeing in conjunction with BAND. BAND is a voluntary sector organisation operating mostly within the Borough of Bolton. They have been working alongside people with lived experience of a mental health condition for over 25 years. They believe that everyone has the right and capability to lead an inclusive and meaningful life and their services are designed to support people to take steps towards achieving this.

The day will consist of a seminar titled ‘No Suicides in Bolton’ from 10:00 – 12:00 reflective of Bolton’s Suicide Prevention Strategy. The afternoon from 12:00 – 17:00 consists of several free workshops aimed at improving community health and wellbeing. There are already over 40 exhibitors confirmed and a full programme of activities and entertainment planned. These include: Yoga, Henna, Mindfulness practice, Pottery making, Information stalls, Personalised name on canvas and many, many more.
