Professor Elias Siores has decided to take early retirement from the University and take up a senior consultant appointment to the Greek government on issues very close to his heart, related to Research and Innovation. He has served Bolton University on various academic and leadership appointments.
He joined the University as Professor and Head of Centre for Materials Research and Innovation (IMRI) in 2003 at a time when the University was an Institute and contributed to becoming a University through his R&D initiatives.
Professor Elias Siores has collaborated with other distinguished academics around the world on various projects related to Renewable Energy and Biomedical Engineering projects and published in international journals of the highest repute. A commendable number of citations have emerged through his pioneering research work along with numerous international awards for his excellent research work.
Professor Siores pioneered the PhD by publication with funding from EPSRC, a unique doctoral degree in the UK that has provided a pathway for industry based students to obtain the highest degree qualification and benefitting the University from a strong alumni.
In recent years, he served as President of the Board of Trustees of TEI Athens which with its amalgamation with TEI Pireaus is one of the largest Universities in Greece.
Professor Elias Siores wishes to thank all his colleagues, peers, technical and administrative support staff but above all his students at Bolton University and wishes Bolton University continuous success.
Bolton University has awarded him the title Emeritus Professor and wishes him all the best in his future endeavours.
