Psychology Professor Jerome Carson and honorary researcher Sandie McHugh are asking people of Bolton what makes them happy as they replicate the second part of a social experiment conducted as part of the famous Worktown Mass Observation project carried out in the town in the 1930s. This time the academics are asking people to write in their thoughts on happiness just as people did more than 70 years.

Bolton’s first ever dedicated armed forces centre is set to open next month — on the corner of Blackhorse Street and Le Mans Crescent. The University is supporting the scheme with the 100 Year Anniversary of the Great War Endowment Award of £100,000 for war veterans to study at the University.
