Experience Bolton Peer Mentoring

Do you know of any students who would be suitable to become a peer mentor for the new academic year 2016-17?

The Student Experience Team are looking for nominations for suitable students who are available to provide advice and information on aspects of study and student life for new first year students.

Peer mentors are an invaluable source of information on issues related to being a student at University of Bolton.

The aims of peer mentoring are to:

  • provide support for new students, aiding orientation and induction;
  • increase integration between students of different years/courses;
  • provide students with an opportunity to be an active part of their discipline;
  • involve students as partners in their learning experience

If you are aware of any students that are motivated and interested in making a difference to the experience of our first-year students then please send them the attached documentation or let me know and I will be in touch with them. There are many benefits to becoming a peer mentor and full training will be provided, accredited by the Mentoring & Befriending Foundation (MBF).  Peer mentors can gain the Bolton Award and will also receive a volunteering certificate for their time.  The minimum commitment is two to three hours per month.
