Good communication is fundamental to the student experience.  Over the past year colleagues from across the University have been working on a new Student Communications Plan.

The plan recognises that student communications fall into two distinct areas (1) the channels used to engage with students and (2) the content of the messages delivered.  Each month has been themed and, when students join us, they will receive key messages which are targeted to different year groups and aligned with the student journey.  This means that we will send the right information, at the right time, to the right group of students in order to avoid overwhelming them.  The attached poster provides an outline of the new Communications Plan. A new student eNewsletter, similar to Inside UoB, will launch in September 2016.

We will use social media, text message, and a new mobile app and try to avoid the use of email as a principal communications tool.  The Communications Plan will also inform content displayed on AV Screens, banners, posters and student noticeboards.  It is hoped that this new approach will encourage higher levels of student engagement and improved dialogue, ensuring a coordinated approach to the delivery of key messages, communications and campaigns.
