University of Bolton students have been celebrating the achievements of University staff, selecting the winners of the much-coveted annual Student Led Teaching Awards (SLTA).

The awards ceremony, held recently, was hosted by the Students’ Union who run the SLTA each year.

Bolton Students’ Union says these awards are a way of giving lecturers, teaching support staff, non-teaching staff, course reps and academic societies the recognition they deserve. The SLTA are entirely led by students, and the results rely on the feedback and testimonials of students at the University of Bolton.

With more than 650 nominations, the SLTAs, now in their fourth year, are a recognised part of the University calendar.

More than 70 people gathered to celebrate the achievements of the year, with speeches given by representatives from students and the Students’ Union.

All nominated staff and students received a framed certificate, printed with quotes from their nominators and, in addition, the winners received an engraved glass paper weight.

Speaking during the ceremony, the SU President, Arthur Kaddu, congratulated all nominees and thanked the students who made nominations.
