It is that time of the year when our institution prepares for the most important event in the life of our students – the Degree Congregation.

This year’s celebrations will be even more special, as for the first time Degree Congregations will take place at the University of Bolton.

Recent Campus development and remodelling has created a new open space, named The Sward, which will be the site for a bespoke pavilion. The Sward, a recently landscaped expanse of grass, lies between the University of Bolton Chancellor’s Building and the Stoller Building.

The bespoke pavilion will seat more than 1,000 guests and will host six such ceremonies, held over three days – 13-15 July 2016. Around 2,500 students are expected to celebrate graduation success with their friends and families this year.

Said Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor George E Holmes DL:

‘With the new Sward and pavilion we have the opportunity for graduating students to celebrate their success in the heart of the campus for the first time.

‘The Campus is the very place where all their hard work has led to them realising their higher education dreams. It seems right they complete that journey here at the University.’
