Award-winning filmmaker and University of Bolton graduate Jason Wingard has been inspiring students with a day-long workshop encompassing all aspects of film production.
Speaking at the University Jason covered a host of topics including how to get into the business, funding a project and the importance of competitions and film festivals.
The day culminated in a workshop with Theatre students performing some of Jason’s work in front of an audience of Media Studies students.
Jason has won a host of awards for his short films including the Virgin Media Shorts Award for the 2011 film ‘Going to Mecca’.
He graduated from the University of Bolton in 2004 with first-class honours in Film, Video and Photographic Arts.
Jason is currently working on ‘The Crossing’ a drama based on the real-life stories and testimonies of refugees living in the Jungle camp in Calais.
He has partially funded the project himself, taking the cast and crew to Calais for ten days to film in and around the refugee camp. Jason is now attempting to achieve his fundraising goal of £25,000 to complete filming. The next stage will be to travel to Eastern Europe and Greece, taking the story to its natural starting point.
